April Kit Instructions

Have you seen the NEW April Kit-of-the-Month, yet? If not, let me take you on a little tour while I share some instructions for putting the pieces together.

This month's kit sports a fresh new Art Image Sheet called TEA TIME. It's the next best thing to sitting in a lovely English garden enjoying a steaming cup of Earl Grey.

A majority of the trays are Duo-Side and contain a recessed area to accommodate a glass cabochon on the front and back. This adds dimension and substance to the pieces and allows the maker to feature not just one, but two images or photos. They also look beautiful from any angle. Let's put these sweet pieces together...

Assembly Instructions

Thanks for ordering the Craft Fantastic APRIL KIT! This kit is available for a limited time.

Here's a couple of links to help you complete the projects followed by a few
assembly instructions for each piece:

  1. Select images and add them to the glass cabochons using Fantastic Glaze & Glue. Remember you have twice as many glass pieces to put together because of the Duo-Side trays.
  2. Attach each tray to the bracelet using small jump rings. In the sample, I attached the first tray to the 5th link starting at the end with the clasp. After that, I attached a tray every 8th link.
  3. Attach a rose charm between each Duo-Side tray. In the sample, I attached the rose charms to the 4th link between each set of trays.
  4. Add a Fantastic Sticky Dot to each side of each tray. Remove the red backing to expose the adhesive.
  5. Firmly press a Small Round Cabochon into each side of each tray.

Craft Fantastic Cards Anyone?

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo in Grapevine, TX. I got to meet our very amazing team members at our Craft Fantastic Booth, and let me tell you, these ladies are nothing short of amazing! If our travel schedule brings us to your area, please come and see us!
So after a very busy papercrafting weekend I thought I would bring to you all some ideas of how to use your Craft Fantastic on a card . I will be working with an A2 size card and some various papers so you can see some different ideas.
First I am using our small glass rounds and our Fantastic Glaze and Glue. A note to all you paper crafters, this glue is really amazing even on your other projects. It really has a fabulous hold and I will show you more on this in upcoming blog posts. Now I wanted to see how different papers would look under our glass. So just as you do if you are making a jewelry piece, put your glaze and glue on the flat side of your jewelers glass and adhere to your paper. When the glass can't be wiggled any more it is dry and you can go ahead and trim around the excess. Always trim around your glass at a 45 degree angle. This will let you get a closer cut along the edge of the glass.

Now I tried several different things. The pink is shimmer paper, the pink with a pattern is pattern paper, the two images that have words on them are from our Inspiration Image Sheet and the turquoise one is Glitsy paper.

A note, it took a lot longer for the glue to set on the Glitsy paper then it did on all the other papers. Once these were all dry and trimmed I used them on the front of a card that I was working on. As a paper crafter for many years, I have a supply of paper flowers. I decided to use my glass circles as centers for the flowers. You can see the different pieces on the card. Also, I decided to use our wonderful bling for a flower center too! So which is your favorite? What do you think?

Hugs!

My Garden 12x12 Scrapbook Layout

Happy Spring everybody! Kim here from My Kraft Kloset sharing a unique 12x12 scrapbook layout project I made with Craft Fantastic products and some scrapbooking supplies to show you how versatile these products are on layouts and cards too! And even though more snow is arriving in my area, I’m still thinking about Spring. Which is easy to do with these gorgeous *NEW* butterfly images and some of the flowers that have bloomed in my garden over the years.

Let’s get started:
1. I chose a 12x12” spring plaid patterned paper as my base. Cut a piece of green polka dot cardstock 12x6,” border punched the bottom, and adhered to the plaid paper. Then adhered and layered an 8.5x11” piece of turquoise cardstock to the layout.

2.  Next I printed my pictures in color on white cardstock, trimmed each picture leaving a white border around them, and adhered to the turquoise cardstock.

3. Added the title “My Garden” in green colored alpha stickers.

4. To make my own unique handmade embellishments to match my project I choose these new butterfly images. I could have used them flat as is, but I really wanted the magnified dimension you get with a glass round piece.

5. Add some Craft Fantastic Glaze & Glue droplets onto the backs of the round glass and glue them onto the butterfly images. Move your glass around, add a little pressure to get any bubbles out, and make sure the surface is completely covered. Hold in place for a couple minutes. Let dry.

6. Once dry, use a Q-tip to remove any excess glue around the edges of the glass. Cut around the edges of the glass and cut out the butterfly images.

7. Add a Fantastic Jewelers Dot to the back of each butterfly image and adhere to the layout.  And voila! You have a unique layout with handmade embellishments that will look great in a scrapbook. Or mount on canvas or in a frame for a one of a kind home decor piece. Or give as a special gift, as Mother’s Day is May 14th.

<<Bonus Card>> cut out butterfly image and adhere to card with a jewelers dot.

Flower Resin Cabs/A Little Shabby Chic

I love the Flower Resin Cabs, they remind me of vintage buttons, just a touch of shabby chic!
They come in assorted colors and my favorite is to pair the black cabs with antique silver trays and the other colors with the antique brass trays.  Products used in making the above projects are:

New Peacock Tray in Antique Brass and Antique Silver
New Scallop Tray in Antique Brass and Antique Silver
Flower Resin Cabs (black, soft peach, dusty lilac and pale yellow)
pinch bails brass and silver
Retro Round Bracelet Kit Antique Brass
24" rolo chain brass/silver
24" classic chain brass/silver
Fantastic Glue and Glaze
Fantastic (Sticky) Jeweler's Dots

The Retro Round Bracelet Kit comes with 8 small glass rounds if you want to make a bracelet with images instead of using the cabs ( as shown in the above photo).

I started by adding a sticky dot to all the trays, however, when working with the resin cabs you may want to stack 2/3 dots as to insure proper adherence to the tray.  I sometimes add just a dab of the Fantastic Glaze and Glue to the tray also.  Then I added all the cabs to the trays and bracelet and put them on the 24" chains.  The bracelet is elastic so it will fit all wrists.

The new Scallop trays will require a pinch bail or a jump ring so you can then attach the tray to the 24" chain of your choice.  I like the look of these trays with the flower resin cabs on a 24" chain, to give a more of a classic looking necklace/pendant.

I just love all the new trays that Craft Fantastic is adding and it creates endless possibilities when making new jewelry! Please check out my Facebook page Junquedrawerdesigns and also my blog with the same name. See you in 2 weeks!  Liz

Any Harry Potter Fans Out There? Craft Fantastic is Perfect for Custom Projects!

Hi All! Do you have any Harry Potter fans in your life? I certainly do! My baby is a huge Harry Potter fan and her birthday is coming up! Customizing with  Craft Fantastic for that perfect gift to the rescue! Today we will make three projects that are being customized for my harry Potter fan, but you can customize these whether you us personal photos or other images that have special meaning for that special person.

First up is our Black Retro Posh Bracelet. This bracelet comes with six large glass ovals. These are perfect for pretty good size images and would also be great for images of family, friends, and even fur babies.

I chose for this the Hogwarts Crest and the various Hogwarts House Crests. I found images on the internet and brought them into Microsoft Word. I made sure I sized them to fit the glass and printed them out on my printer. I then took the color printouts and made color copies. I used the color copies for my actual project. The rest is simple, apply Fantastic Glaze and Glue to the flat side of the glass and place over the image. Wiggle to make sure the glue is spread over the entire image and make sure you have the glass over the image as you want it to appear. Hold in place until it stops wiggling. Use a Q-tip around the edges to wipe off any excess glue. Then take a scissor and trim around the edges holding the scissor at a forty five degree angle. This will allow you to get a closer cut to the glass.

I did use four Fantastic Jewelers Dots per glass piece. This is probably a little excessive, but my recipient is going to be eleven and she can give a bracelet a workout. Check out the finished project!

Next up is an adorable Harry Potter necklace. Again I followed the same procedure for grabbing an image as above. I used the Small Rectangle Pendant Kit in Silver. Both the tray and the glass come in this kit. Follow the same procedure as above using Fantastic Glaze and Glue and adhering to the tray using Fantastic Jewelers Dots. For this I only used two dots.

I then finished this project off with a 24 inch Silver Ball Chain.  How cute is this!

And finally, a ticket on the Hogwarts Express! I used a craft tag and used Fantastic Glaze and Glue to adhere a Hogwarts ticket image to the tag. Next I took one of the adorable Owl Tray in Silver and using the Hogwarts crest adhered the image to a Medium Glass Round and attached the glass to the owl tray with  Fantastic Jewelers Dots. I then attached the owl tray to the tag using ribbons in Hogwarts colors. This will be perfect either for a card or as a bookmark for my daughter!

What do you think?

As always, i do hope you have enjoyed these fun projects and please post in the comments below if you have any questions at all!

Hugs,

Judy
